FROM THE LOGBOOK
Flight notes
A night approach into Kai Tak was never going to be simple, but this one became much more difficult than expected.
The flight plan brought us toward Runway 13 from the mountain side, leaving the Boeing 737 much too high on approach. With the mountains around us and very little room left to lose altitude, I had to descend aggressively and work quickly to get the aircraft back onto a safe path.
What followed was a demanding final approach and a landing that needed corrections right until the end.
Night approach onto Runway 13 with mountain terrain avoidance.
